This workshop introduces strategies to incorporate inquiry-based learning and classroom polling tools to encourage inclusive participation and a sense of belonging for all students. Although the name of the workshop emphasizes large courses, the strategies discussed will support all sizes of courses.

Using polling tools in your class can help engage students with inclusive and thought-provoking questions. These tools can also help you create interactive and responsive lessons that are tailored to meet individual students’ needs.  

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to: 

• Create effective and contextually relevant questions to stimulate critical thinking and class discussion 
• Identify the educational benefits of incorporating polling tools and inquiry-based learning strategies 
• Appropriately integrate JMU-supported polling tools to meet teaching and learning needs
