Description
Want to make something cool on The Makery’s Glowforge laser cutter? Take this workshop to explore the basics of how laser cutting CNC machines work and how to set yourself up for success with a great project suited for the medium. In this workshop, you will join one of The Makery’s knowledgeable staff and see behind the scenes into the step-by-step process of creating a unique laser cut object using Adobe Illustrator and the Glowforge web interface. Completed keychain projects designed during the event will be available for pickup within a few days of the workshop.
This workshop has been adapted for an online setting and is presented by The Makery at JMU Libraries.
Objectives
After taking this workshop, patrons will be able to:
• Explain the difference between raster and vector graphics
• Create basic shapes and designs in Adobe Illustrator
• Operate the Glowforge laser cutter safely to cut or engrave approved materials
