Join us to explore some of the essential functions of Canvas that can help you plan teaching with asynchronous features in this JMU learning management system. In this workshop, instructors will provide an overview of Canvas essential features of modules and pages, discussions for class and groups, and assessment with assignments and quizzes, and Student View of Canvas. Participants will be invited to participate in future workshops or request consultations with relevant teaching applications.

Objectives

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify essential Canvas functionalities for teaching
  • Describe strategies for optimal use of Canvas in teaching
  • Connect teaching needs with Canvas-related programming from JMU Libraries
