Description

As a signature program that supports teaching and learning, JMU Libraries presents the Institute for Online and Blended Course Design. This year’s institute will continue to facilitate opportunities for faculty to learn about the design and development of online courses through the expertise of fellow online instructors, instructional design faculty, educational technologists, and the networked wisdom of JMU faculty with years of experience in online teaching as we share with you the pedagogical and technical expertise needed to create a high-quality course.

The institute will weave 40 hours of learning and design with consultation, mentoring, and time/space/resources on course development. Meetings will occur weekly on Wednesdays from January to April from 8:30 am to noon in Rose Library TLT classroom and innovation space. Participants will work closely with instructional design faculty, technology instructors, and peer mentors to gain skills, design course structure and activities, and explore creative possibilities for teaching and learning. On April 17, the institute will celebrate the course design accomplishment with participants’ showcase of their designed courses.
