Exploring Authors' Rights

Join us for a 90-minute workshop where JMU's Copyright Librarian, Howard Carrier, will delve into the topic of authors' rights. This session is designed for anyone looking to publish their work and will cover: 

  • The lawful use of others' work in your writing or scholarship 
  • What to expect when working with publishers 
  • How to protect your rights as a creator and avoid common pitfalls 

This workshop will provide practical insights and solutions tailored to authors at any stage of their publishing journey. 

By the end of the session, you will have: 

  • A solid understanding of fundamental copyright principles 
  • The ability to make informed decisions about fair use and licensing 
  • Awareness of your rights as an author or creator
