Vinyl Cutting Basics

Explore the world of vinyl cutting and learn to create stickers, stencils, and iron-on decals! Get hands-on experience with the equipment and materials available in The Makery, including our Graphtec plotter, the Adobe Illustrator software, and the Cutting Master plugin. This “make and take” program will cover the process from beginning to end, including graphic design in Adobe Illustrator, cutting of the design, the weeding process, and transferring the sticker to a new surface. Join us to get creative and to practice a new skill.

In this workshop, you'll learn how to:

  • Explain the difference between raster and vector graphics
  • Create basic shapes and designs in Adobe Illustrator
  • Operate the Graphtec cutter/plotter safely to cut vinyl materials provided by The Makery
  • Complete a vinyl decal project
