Canvas Essentials

Join us for a hands-on workshop designed to equip JMU educators with the skills and resources needed to create engaging courses in Canvas. In this workshop, you will learn how to maximize Canvas's potential using applications such as Canvas Studio, Zoom, Microsoft 365, and other powerful tools. Get an overview of essential Canvas features, including Modules, Pages, and Discussions, as well as assessments through Assignments and Quizzes.

This workshop is open to all JMU faculty and staff members, but will be particularly helpful for new faculty/staff or those transitioning to fully online instruction.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • identify essential Canvas functionalities for teaching
  • describe strategies for optimal use of Canvas in teaching
  • connect your teaching needs with resources available from JMU Libraries
