Mixed Media Painting

Studies have shown that exposure to even small amounts of art and creativity can reduce stress and anxiety by reducing cortisol levels. A recent research study published in Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association offers “preliminary evidence for the use of art making for lowering cortisol, a proxy measure of stress, among healthy adults” (page 79). Another story in the magazine Better Nutrition noted that college students can lower anxiety by engaging in art, no matter their previous art experience or skill level.

Join us for a relaxing hour of creating mixed media art using acrylic paints and regular household items. Held in Rose Library room 5308. All art supplies provided! No prior art experience is necessary.
