Exploring “Every Inch of Harrisonburg”: The Robert J. Sullivan Jr. Papers
Event box
In April 2014, JMU Special Collections acquired the first of two donations of papers belonging to the late Robert James Sullivan Jr. – Harrisonburg’s “unofficial historian” and city planner for over two decades. These papers, dating from 1930 to 2013, are a culmination of Mr. Sullivan’s lifetime of work and include maps, reports, newspaper clippings, personal papers, and hundreds of slides and photographs.
On Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 PM, we will celebrate Mr. Sullivan’s contribution to the Harrisonburg community – as a lifelong public servant and a devoted compiler of history – with Exploring “Every Inch of Harrisonburg”: The Robert J. Sullivan Jr. Papers. This event is co-sponsored by the Massanutten Regional Library, the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society, and JMU’s Special Collections Library. Speakers include Charlie Chenault and Dr. David Ehrenpreis.
The event will be held at Massanutten Regional Library. Refreshments will be served.
