Description

Canvas is a powerful Learning Management System (LMS) which gives JMU faculty the option to manage, receive and distribute content to their learners all from a virtual location. But, getting started with Canvas can be a daunting task, especially when doing it alone and if deadlines are fast approaching, so we’re here to help. Welcome to Getting Started with Canvas, a two hour workshop designed to get you started with creating modules, navigating file management, assignment creation, course organization, and much more. Getting Started with Canvas is a workshop tailored for faculty whom are starting to build and design their courses, but are not yet familiar with the LMS.

Objectives

At the completion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand Canvas menu navigation
  • Understand publishing and saving
  • Successfully build a page, an assignment, and a module
  • Become familiar with Canvas file upload requirements
  • Gain a firm understanding of file management
