SUMMARY:Getting Started with AI
DESCRIPTION:\n\nExplore the complex and ever-changing world of artificial 
 intelligence (AI) in this workshop. Gain a thorough understanding of AI\, 
 from its origins to its current impact across various industries. Learn 
 about the different types of AI\, with a focus on generative AI (gAI)\, and 
 explore how machine learning powers AI. This session will cover ethical 
 considerations\, showcase various AI tools\, and explore AI's practical 
 integration into tools used at JMU\, such as Copilot and Gradescope. This 
 will give you hands-on experience with real-world AI applications\, 
 including those at JMU. \n\nThis workshop is ideal for AI newcomers and 
 early adopters\, featuring informative lectures\, interactive discussions\, 
 and a showcase of AI tools to ensure active participation. \n\nBy the end 
 of this workshop\, you will be able to:  \n\n\n	\n	Describe the origins and 
 key milestones in AI development.  \n	\n\n\n\n	\n	Explain generative AI 
 (gAI)\, its techniques\, and its impact on content creation.  
 \n	\n\n\n\n	\n	Discuss the ethical implications of AI in areas such as 
 information sourcing\, image creation\, authorship\, and algorithmic bias.  
 \n	\n\n\n\n	\n	Confidently explore generative and non-generative-AI tools. 
 \n	\n\n\n\n	\n	Discuss the implications of AI on industry practices and 
 future technological developments.\n	\n\n\nInstructors\n\nIvan Guadarrama\, 
 Anthony Miles\, and Nathaniel Taeho Yu\n\nJoin the workshop\n\nThis is a 
 hybrid session\, offered in both Rose Library room 3311 and on Zoom.\n\nIf 
 you attend in person\, please bring a laptop.\n\nIf you choose "Online 
 Registration\," you will receive the zoom link and password in the 
 registration confirmation and reminder emails. These emails will come from
