2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the National Park System and the 90th anniversary of the authorization of Shenandoah National Park.

To mark these events, JMU Special Collections will host Sue Eisenfeld, author of Shenandoah: A Story of Conservation and Betrayal, as part of the Special Collections Speaker Series. Eisenfeld will speak on her research relating to the displaced families of the Blue Ridge Mountains and what is now the Shenandoah National Park.

JMU Special Collections is home to the Shenandoah National Park Oral History Collection, a rich collection of over 130 interviews with former residents of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Eisenfeld utilized this collection to inform her research for Shenandoah.

Light refreshments will be served. Book sales and signings will be available. All are welcome to this free event!
